Le Grand Hotel – Paris

11th December 2009, in Travel (0 Comments)

On the cusp of my thirtieth birthday my mother made my wish come true even before blowing out the candles. The wish was a luxury packed trip to Europe and it all started at the InterContinental Le Grand Hotel in Paris, France. After arriving in Paris and walking through the lobby of Le Grand, I knew that I was going to be departing my twenties in style, elegance, and luxury.  Le Grand Hotel truly is a “Grand” hotel that exudes charm, comfort, and intimacy despite being a whole city block in size.  From the beginning of my stay I knew this was going to be the start of an experience I would cherish for a lifetime.

The entrance of the hotel is very open opulent. The space lures you to take your time and savor your first moments beginning with a large round table of white orchids which create an ambiance of class and charm. I was hesitant to continue on to the reception area to checkin, but as I proceeded, I turned the corner and was faced with a conservatory glass courtyard filled with elegance. The courtyard was adorned with luxurious fixtures and fittings, dark paneled wood, with a superior chandelier. I stood there trying to absorb all the beauty that kept appearing at every turn. After digesting the lobby I finally made my way to the reception desk. I couldn’t wait to see what my room had to offer. From the moment of check-in the staff was gracious in providing a very warm welcome, eager to be of assistance with any and all of my needs. I was provided with all the information I would need during my stay and had all my questions answered with patience and experienced knowledge from the staff. I eagerly grabbed for the key to my room and made my way to the marble and gold elevators.

The room was magnificent, it provided two personal size patios, both overlooking the historical Opera House. The bathroom provided great lighting, large mirrors, and plush towels but the real treat was the L’Occitane toiletries. The room possesses the same qualities as the lobby, by being both extravagant and welcoming. I was teetering between feelings of being in a dream or being in reality and was tempted to collapse onto the luxurious bed which overtakes the center of the room. I realized I was feeling a bit of jet lag so I called down to I-Spa by Algotherm. I had decided to indulge in a soothing massage which quickly turned into a magical spa treatment. I was now ready to explore all the historic treasures that encircle Le Grand Hotel in Paris, France. – by Tami Kurian
