The Art of Lux Design

Tell me a little about this property.

It’s a large lateral space property composed of a spacious landing leading to a large reception-dining room, a TV room, separate study, family, dining, and TV room opening onto the kitchen. There’s a very large master suite with two dressing areas and a large bathroom. It also has three additional bedrooms with dressing areas and bathrooms as well as a staff flat with shower room. The entire apartment is surrounded by loggias with sea views from Cap d’Antibes down to Cap Ferrat, Cap Martin, and towards Italy.

What can you tell us about your interior design motives?

The interior of the apartment has been composed of light colors and schemes to compliment the natural views outside. It hosts a variety of light art deco furniture from the new Lalique Maison collection. Ivory ash is the color of choice with original Lalique crystals embedded into the pieces. Inspired by Rene Lalique, the luminous collection integrates into luxurious interiors harmoniously. It connects vintage with contemporary, which makes it a timeless masterpiece.

The master suite looks like a creation of pure decadence. How would you describe it?

In the master suite, ‘Grapes’ decorative crystal panels garnish the bed, side tables, sideboard, and TV. The ‘Femme Bras Leves’ lamps on either side of the bed create an elegant touch to the alluring charm of the room. The bed cover, cashmere throw, and cushions (also featured in the sitting room) are decorated with graphic shapes and glass silver beads. The sets of cushions with classic motifs represent Lalique, such as Swallows and Coutard, and fascinate the eye with their poetry and artistry. The ‘Femme Bras Leves’ bar in the bedroom shows its multi-functional use as a bar or a stylish bedroom cabinet. It is amazing to see how the crystals and beads used in the pieces reflect the sunlight which floods the apartment by day but brings a warm romantic glint by night.

What accents are unique in the apartment?

In addition to the Lalique Maison furniture, there are some contemporary pieces with various finishes such as silver leaf, gold leaf, and black lacquer. These break up the light color scheme and bring an edgier side to the decoration.

Are there specific details that stand out in your mind?

The mother of pearl detail in the marble floor is carried through the entrance hall and bathrooms. Carefully designed into the marble, it creates a lustrous and opulent border to the floor space. Also, the combination of travertine stone on the walls and marble gives the apartment an effortless but timeless look.
