THE NEW TRAVEL REGIMEN

Truth be told… it takes more than an apple a day to keep the doctor away. Preparation and prevention is key! We all know that we are at a higher risk of getting sick, catching something or being in pain when we travel…so why aren’t you doing something to decrease these odds? Try adding these things into your routine and allow your body to be on guard and be prepared for anything that it comes in contact with!
TAKE A HIGHER DOSE OF PROBIOTICS FOR 7 DAYS PRIOR TO LEAVING
*  Take 10 Billion CFUs (live Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus plantarum strains) daily the week before you leave. (Stop if you start feeling bloated and lower until you find your body’s proper threshold. If you are taking certain medications make sure to consult with your doctor prior to taking supplements)
SUPPLEMENT A NATURAL ANTIBOITIC ~ OREGANO OIL
* This nutrient is powerful! Take 2-3 drops, three times a day, the week prior and the week during your travel.
* Best used by dropping under your tongue, but if it is too strong dilute with water or coconut oil.
A TABLESPOON OF APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
* Mix with 10 oz. of water, your favorite tea or even on top of your green leafy salad!
* Do this the week prior to your travels or start adding it into you daily routine to add an additional boost to your immune system!
WARM YOUR BODY WITH GINGER
*Add raw ginger to your morning smoothie or daily tea and allow it to cleanse your lymphatic system, destroy toxins and open up your airways! It has been clinically proven to boost your immune system and I recommend consuming it on a daily basis.
COLD & SINUS LIQUID SHOTS!!!
*Easy to make and work wonders. All you need is fresh lemon, ginger, oregano oil, garlic extract, cayenne pepper, turmeric, horseradish & Echinacea. The moment you feel sinus pressure, a sore throat, or congestion the first thing you should is run to the market, buy these ingredients and make your own liquid remedy! I recommend 1-2, 2oz. servings a day until symptoms go away.
GO 90% VEGAN
* I always try to eat mostly a veggie-based diet with small amounts of animal protein, but during my travels I tend to eat out, eat a lot more than normal and I have to be extra safe. Due to the amount of poor quality meats found out there I am very specific about the types that I will eat. Chances are that the meat isn’t grass fed and the chicken isn’t cage free, antibiotic free, hormone free. With that said, unless its specified, don’t eat it. Staying vegan is always safe!
OPEN UP YOUR HIPS
*After a long flight the first thing you should do when you get a minute is stretch. No one feels nice and loose after a long flight and the last thing you want to do is ignore it. Try adding these stretches in ASAP: Figure 4 stretch, frog pose, cat camel & runners stretch. This will take the tension off your lower back!
STAY ACTIVE
* I’m not going to make you go to the gym on your holiday (unless it’s something you enjoy), but do everything possible to keep moving. Whether it is taking the stairs instead of the elevator, doing some laps in the pool versus just laying on a float, walk to get to your destination and explore the area instead of taking a taxi. Every step or movement counts!
